Izaak Walton League
The next organization that has found Richard as an active member is the Izaak Walton League. This group is committed to the preservation of nature and open spaces and man’s sharing in this treasure. Unlike other conservation groups, the Ikes do not believe man is the enemy of nature but we are partners. We have the duty of being good shepherds of our natural resources for the benefit of both. This organization fights for the rights of the hunters and fishermen (and women) as part of the true conservation movement. Richard was asked to join by his neighbor Harold Johnson, and went on to serve on the board and later as their attorney. The board has recognized his work throughout the years, including the merger with the Valley Trap Range.
